Dosimetric characteristics of fabricated germanium doped optical fibres for a postal audit of therapy electron beams

نویسندگان

چکیده

The dosimetric characteristics of germanium (Ge) doped optical fibres are investigated as a potential alternative for electron beam therapy postal audits. 6 mol% Ge-doped fabricated cylindrical (CF) and flat (FF) established in terms signal fading, linearity dose-response, energy- dose rate dependence. Pilot audit study irradiations made with linear accelerator located at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, applying International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standard irradiation procedures reference non-reference conditions. Results CF FF show fading 26% 20% respectively 120 days post-irradiation. For MeV dose-response is observed to be over range 1–3 Gy, least determination coefficient, R2, being 0.985. results within tolerance limit 5% recommended by Commission on Radiation Units Measurements (ICRU) Report No. 24, maximum deviation 4% under In conclusion, seen offer suitability use an dosimeter TLD-100 audit.

Evaluation of dosimetric characteristics of a grid block fabricated for Mega-voltage grid therapy purposes

Background: In conventional radiation therapy, regarding normal tissue tolerance, the treatment of bulk tumors is one of the remaining challenges. Grid Radiation Therapy (GRT) is a technique to deliver high doses, approximately 15 – 20 Gy per fraction, to several small volumes located in a large radiation field. This can be performed using a grid block. The current work has concentrate...
